PREPARATION OF POSTERS FOR PRESENTATION

Congratulations! Your abstract has been accepted for Poster Presentation at the ABM Meeting. Posters should be set up on your assigned board on Wednesday, October 16, 1 - 5 pm. Posters should then be taken down after the final poster presentation Saturday, October 19, 9:55 - 10:25 am. The following guidelines will help make your poster serve your communication needs to the fullest.

Poster presentations

1. Enhance exchange of ideas with those who are interested in the work

2. Allow presenters to meet peers in an informal setting

3. Provide a permanent record of the work that can be shared at home departments, other meetings, etc.

PLANNING

The size of the space provided for your poster is:

1.9'(H) x 2.8'(W) (59.4 x 84 cm or 594 x 841 mm)

EDITING & PRODUCTION

Keep text to a minimum. To do this, edit your material down to essential words. Use tables, lists, figures and diagrams whenever possible.
The objective is to show your data so that it can be comfortably and easily read from 4 feet (1.25m) away. Do not make the poster cluttered.
Put the materials in the structure of the abstract: introduction, methods or case report, results, conclusions.
Bibliography is optional. If unusual, you may wish to print a few copies to give out to those with special interest.

SUGGESTED PRINT SETTINGS

Use a font that has no serifs (e.g. Helvetica) throughout as they are more easily read.

The size of print is in “points.” There are 72 points/inch.

TITLE PANEL:

All printing in bold
All lines centered, and title placed at the top of the board. It may extend the full 4 feet of width.

Title: 60 point (72 point is best -one inch tall), upper case.
Authors: 48 point (about 3/4 inch).
Institution: 36 point (about 1/2 inch).

BODY OF POSTERS:
Headings: 36 point bold. May be upper case and italics may help.
Text: 18 to 24 pt. Be brief, use bullet points rather than full sentences. Organize thoughts and data so it can be made tabular if possible.
