International Travel Scholarship

Supporting Global Participation in the ABM Annual International Meeting

ABM is pleased to offer four International Travel Scholarships of $1,000 USD each to support international members attending the ABM Annual International Meeting.

The scholarship program helps reduce financial barriers to conference participation and promotes global representation, knowledge exchange, and collaboration within breastfeeding and lactation medicine. Scholarship recipients are selected through a competitive review process that considers financial need, potential impact, alignment with ABM's mission, geographic representation, and engagement with ABM activities.

Dr. Ruth A. Lawrence Distinguished Leadership Service Award

Honoring Exceptional Service and Leadership

The Dr. Ruth A. Lawrence Distinguished Leadership Service Award recognizes a physician member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and dedication to the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine over an extended period of time. The award honors individuals whose contributions have strengthened ABM, advanced its mission, fostered mentorship, and supported the growth and development of the breastfeeding medicine community.

Established in honor of ABM co-founder Dr. Ruth A. Lawrence, the award celebrates a legacy of leadership, service, scholarship, and commitment to improving care for breastfeeding families. The inaugural award was presented to Dr. Lawrence in recognition of her lifetime contributions to breastfeeding medicine and the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

ABM is now accepting nominations for the 2026 award cycle and encourages members to recognize colleagues whose service, leadership, mentorship, and dedication have left a lasting impact on ABM and the field of breastfeeding and lactation medicine. Eligible nominees must be current or retired physician members of ABM and may not be current members of the Board of Directors. Nominations require a CV and supporting letters of recommendation.
